Innovation

First project’s innovation concerns the adaptation & transfer of the minimum data set (MDS) rationale & practice from fields, such as the unintentional injury registration in hospital emergency departments & home & community care, into the field of CAN prevention, monitoring & administration. Second project’s innovation concerns the types of child maltreatment cases to be addressed. Specifically, apart from cases involving public authorities (judicial, public order), CAN-MDS suggested methodology aims to address cases handled & managed by services in health, welfare & educational sectors, since evidence suggests that the vast majority of CAN cases usually do not enter the juridical system. Thus, this project will provide necessary counterpart for initiatives focusing on harmonization of recording techniques on CAN cases dealt with by public authorities such as EU’s FRA, enabling the illustration of more coherent picture for CAN phenomenon’s magnitude & features throughout Europe.
